Kalmes Famous Steak Seasoning and Tenderizer has been used in our family restaurant and catering business for over 25 years and has been very instrumental in helping the Kalmes family build a very successful food business. Over the years customers would ask if they could buy the seasoning at the restaurant or when we were out catering a steak fry, so I finally decided to bottle the seasoning and now sell it at several locations in and around the Dubuque, Iowa area with great success! Customers tell me they use it on their roasts, steaks, pork chops, chicken breasts, potatoes, etc.

P.S. Steak fry events we do are for 1000+ people and are fundraisers that started out with only 200 people and grew to over 1000+ people, in a four to five year period. This is a pretty good indication that they really like the steaks which of course are seasoned with Kalmes Famous Steak Seasoning and Tenderizer.

History

 

A familiar landmark in the historic Luxembourg Village of St. Donatus, Iowa, conveniently located along Hwy 52, the namesake Kalmes Restaurant provides locals and visitors alike with a wide array of menu choices ranging from coffee and breakfast to traditional dinner entrees.

In it fifth generation, this landmark is known for it’s prime rib and rib eye steaks – called by many “the best of the best” in the tri-state area. The Iowa Hospitality Association named Kalmes Restaurant the 2001 Restaurant of the Year.

 

Open early in the morning- it is a popular coffee and breakfast stop for many- all the way through dinner, the menu offers a wide arrange of favorites for dine in or take out. Families and children are always welcome.

In addition, a catering service is available to serve parties both large and small.
